Core i5-6600 vs Core i3-1005G1 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-6600 beats the Core i3-1005G1 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i3-1005G1 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-6600 has significantly more cores than the Core i3-1005G1. Indeed, the Core i5-6600 has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the Core i3-1005G1. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i5-6600 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i3-1005G1. Also, the Core i5-6600 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i3-1005G1 outputs less heat than Core i5-6600 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-6600 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i3-1005G1. The Core i5-6600 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-6600 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
