Core i5-6500TE vs Xeon E5-649 specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-6500TE performs better than the Xeon E5-649. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-649 in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-649 has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Core i5-6500TE has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-6500TE. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E5-649 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-6500TE. Despite this, the Core i5-6500TE has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-6500TE CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-649 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Xeon E5-649 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-6500TE. The Xeon E5-649 also has significantly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-6500TE has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
