Core i5-6500T vs Xeon E5-2630 v2 comparison
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon E5-2630 v2 performs better than the Core i5-6500T. Despite this, the Core i5-6500T has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E5-2630 v2 has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Core i5-6500T that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-6500T. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2630 v2 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-6500T. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. A Core i5-6500T CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2630 v2 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-6500T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
