Core i5-6500T vs Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U beats the Core i5-6500T in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-6500T has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Core i5-6500T that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-6500T. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-6500T has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U outputs less heat than Core i5-6500T thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-6500T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
