Core i5-6500 vs Xeon E5-2643 comparison

In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-2643 beats the Core i5-6500 in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-6500 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Xeon E5-2643 has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E5-2643 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-6500. Despite this, the Core i5-6500 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-6500 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2643 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-6500 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
