Core i5-6500 vs Phenom II X6 1100T specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-6500 beats the Phenom II X6 1100T in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Phenom II X6 1100T in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Phenom II X6 1100T has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Core i5-6500 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-6500. With our hardware info, we find that the Phenom II X6 1100T has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-6500. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Phenom II X6 1100T has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-6500. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-6500 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
