Core i5-6400 vs Xeon X5650 comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Xeon X5650 is faster than the Core i5-6400. Despite this, the Core i5-6400 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon X5650 has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Core i5-6400 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-6400. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-6400 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon X5650. Also, the Core i5-6400 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-6400 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon X5650 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Xeon X5650 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-6400. The Xeon X5650 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-6400 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
