Core i5-6400 vs Phenom II X6 1100T benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Phenom II X6 1100T performs better than the Core i5-6400. Despite this, the Core i5-6400 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Phenom II X6 1100T has significantly more cores than the Core i5-6400. Indeed, the Phenom II X6 1100T has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Core i5-6400. It also has more threads than the Core i5-6400. With our hardware info, we find that the Phenom II X6 1100T has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-6400. The info from our database shows that the Phenom II X6 1100T has more L2 cache than the Core i5-6400. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-6400 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
