Core i5-6400 vs FX-8370E comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the FX-8370E is faster than the Core i5-6400. Despite this, the Core i5-6400 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the FX-8370E has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the FX-8370E has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-6400. Also, the FX-8370E has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-6400 CPU outputs less heat than a FX-8370E CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the FX-8370E has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-6400. The FX-8370E also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-6400 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
