Core i5-6400 vs FX-8320E comparison
In our benchmarks, the FX-8320E beats the Core i5-6400 in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-6400 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count but the FX-8320E has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the FX-8320E has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-6400. A Core i5-6400 CPU outputs less heat than a FX-8320E CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the FX-8320E has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-6400. The FX-8320E also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-6400 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
