Core i5-6400 vs FX-6300 specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Core i5-6400 beats the FX-6300 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the FX-6300 in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-6400 has slightly more cores than the FX-6300. Indeed, the Core i5-6400 has 4 cores compared to 3 cores found in the FX-6300. Despite this, the FX-6300 has more threads than the Core i5-6400. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the FX-6300 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-6400.
