Core i5-6300HQ vs Pentium G4520 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-6300HQ beats the Pentium G4520 in overall performance. Despite this, the Pentium G4520 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-6300HQ has significantly more cores than the Pentium G4520. Indeed, the Core i5-6300HQ has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the Pentium G4520. It also has more threads than the Pentium G4520. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Pentium G4520 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-6300HQ. A Core i5-6300HQ CPU outputs less heat than a Pentium G4520 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-6300HQ has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
