Core i5-5300U vs Pentium G4400 specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Pentium G4400 performs better than the Core i5-5300U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-5300U in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i5-5300U has more threads. Our comparison shows that the Pentium G4400 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-5300U. A Core i5-5300U CPU outputs less heat than a Pentium G4400 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache. The Pentium G4400 also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-5300U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
