Core i5-5200U vs Ryzen 5 7430U specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 5 7430U is faster than the Core i5-5200U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-5200U in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen 5 7430U has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Core i5-5200U has 2 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-5200U. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 7430U has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-5200U. Also, the Ryzen 5 7430U has a significantly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 7430U has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-5200U. The Ryzen 5 7430U also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-5200U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
