Core i5-4690K vs Xeon E5-1620 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-1620 beats the Core i5-4690K in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i5-4690K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Xeon E5-1620 has more threads. Our comparison shows that the Xeon E5-1620 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-4690K. Despite this, the Core i5-4690K has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-4690K CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-1620 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-4690K has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
