Core i5-4690 vs Phenom II X6 1090T specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Phenom II X6 1090T is faster than the Core i5-4690. Despite this, the Core i5-4690 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Phenom II X6 1090T has significantly more cores than the Core i5-4690. Indeed, the Phenom II X6 1090T has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Core i5-4690. It also has more threads than the Core i5-4690. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-4690 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Phenom II X6 1090T.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-4690 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
