Core i5-4690 vs Athlon 3000G comparison

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-4690 is faster than the Athlon 3000G. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Athlon 3000G in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-4690 has significantly more cores with 4 cores whereas the Athlon 3000G has 2 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. In terms of clock speed, the Core i5-4690 and Athlon 3000G are identical in this regard. The Athlon 3000G outputs less heat than Core i5-4690 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-4690 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
