Core i5-4670 vs Xeon E5-2420 specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-4670 beats the Xeon E5-2420 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-2420 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E5-2420 has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Core i5-4670 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-4670. Our comparison shows that the Core i5-4670 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-2420. Also, the Core i5-4670 has a significantly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-4670 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2420 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. For instance, the Core i5-4670 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
