Core i5-4590T vs Athlon Gold 7220U specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Athlon Gold 7220U is faster than the Core i5-4590T. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-4590T in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-4590T has significantly more cores with 4 cores whereas the Athlon Gold 7220U has 2 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Athlon Gold 7220U has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-4590T. Also, the Athlon Gold 7220U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Athlon Gold 7220U outputs less heat than Core i5-4590T thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache. The Core i5-4590T also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-4590T has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
