Core i5-4460 vs Core i7-14700F comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-14700F is faster than the Core i5-4460. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-4460 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i7-14700F has significantly more cores with 20 cores whereas the Core i5-4460 has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-4460. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i5-4460 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-14700F. Despite this, the Core i7-14700F has a significantly higher turbo speed. In terms of cache, the Core i7-14700F has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-4460. The Core i7-14700F also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-4460 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
