Core i5-3550 vs Xeon E5-2643 benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon E5-2643 performs better than the Core i5-3550. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-3550 in all gaming tests too.

Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count but the Xeon E5-2643 has more threads. Both the Core i5-3550 and Xeon E5-2643 have the same clock speed. Despite this, the Core i5-3550 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-3550 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2643 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-3550 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
