Core i5-3340 vs Xeon E5-2650 v2 comparison

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Xeon E5-2650 v2 is faster than the Core i5-3340. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-3340 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E5-2650 v2 has significantly more cores with 8 cores compared to the Core i5-3340 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-3340. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-3340 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2650 v2. Despite this, the Xeon E5-2650 v2 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-3340 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2650 v2 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-3340 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
