Core i5-2500K vs Core i7-4700MQ specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-2500K performs better than the Core i7-4700MQ. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-4700MQ in all gaming tests too.
Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count but the Core i7-4700MQ has more threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-2500K has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-4700MQ. Also, the Core i5-2500K has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-4700MQ outputs less heat than Core i5-2500K thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Core i5-2500K has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
