Intel Core i5-2300 vs Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX

Core i5-2300 vs Core Ultra 7 255HX benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Core Ultra 7 255HX beats the Core i5-2300 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-2300 in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core Ultra 7 255HX has significantly more cores than the Core i5-2300. Indeed, the Core Ultra 7 255HX has 20 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Core i5-2300. It also has more threads than the Core i5-2300. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-2300 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core Ultra 7 255HX. Despite this, the Core Ultra 7 255HX has a significantly higher turbo speed.

Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. For instance, the Core i5-2300 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
