Core i5-14500 vs Xeon Gold 6140 benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-14500 performs better than the Xeon Gold 6140. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon Gold 6140 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon Gold 6140 has slightly more cores with 18 cores whereas the Core i5-14500 has 14 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-14500. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-14500 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon Gold 6140. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Xeon Gold 6140 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-14500. The Xeon Gold 6140 also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-14500 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
