Core i5-14500 vs Xeon Gold 6126 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-14500 beats the Xeon Gold 6126 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon Gold 6126 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-14500 has slightly more cores than the Xeon Gold 6126. Indeed, the Core i5-14500 has 14 cores compared to 12 cores found in the Xeon Gold 6126. Despite this, the Xeon Gold 6126 has more threads than the Core i5-14500. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-14500 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon Gold 6126. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Xeon Gold 6126 has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-14500. The Xeon Gold 6126 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-14500 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
