Core i5-14400F vs Xeon Gold 6230 specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon Gold 6230 performs better than the Core i5-14400F. Despite this, the Core i5-14400F has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon Gold 6230 has significantly more cores with 20 cores compared to the Core i5-14400F that has 10 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-14400F. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-14400F has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon Gold 6230. Also, the Core i5-14400F has a slightly higher turbo speed. The info from our database shows that the Xeon Gold 6230 has more L2 cache than the Core i5-14400F. The Xeon Gold 6230 also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-14400F has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
