Core i5-14400 vs Core Ultra 5 235T specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core Ultra 5 235T performs better than the Core i5-14400. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-14400 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core Ultra 5 235T has slightly more cores with 14 cores compared to the Core i5-14400 that has 10 cores. Despite this, the Core i5-14400 has more threads than the Core Ultra 5 235T. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-14400 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core Ultra 5 235T. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core Ultra 5 235T has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-14400. The Core Ultra 5 235T also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-14400 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
