Core i5-13600K vs Core i7-13700 benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-13700 performs better than the Core i5-13600K. Despite this, the Core i5-13600K has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-13700 has significantly more cores with 16 cores compared to the Core i5-13600K that has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-13600K. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-13600K has a much higher clock speed than the Core i7-13700. Despite this, the Core i7-13700 has a slightly higher turbo speed. In terms of cache, the Core i7-13700 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-13600K. The Core i7-13700 also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-13600K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
