Core i5-13400 vs Core i7-12650HX comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-13400 is faster than the Core i7-12650HX. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-12650HX in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i7-12650HX has slightly more cores with 14 cores whereas the Core i5-13400 has 10 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-13400. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i5-13400 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-12650HX. Despite this, the Core i7-12650HX has a slightly higher turbo speed. In terms of cache, the Core i7-12650HX has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-13400. The Core i7-12650HX also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-13400 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
