Core i5-12500H vs Ryzen Z1 Extreme comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme is faster than the Core i5-12500H. Despite this, the Core i5-12500H has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-12500H has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has 8 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-12500H. In terms of cache, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-12500H. Despite this, the Core i5-12500H has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-12500H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
