Core i5-12500H vs Ryzen Z1 Extreme comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-12500H is faster than the Ryzen Z1 Extreme. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen Z1 Extreme in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-12500H has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has 8 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-12500H. Also, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen Z1 Extreme outputs less heat than Core i5-12500H thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-12500H. Despite this, the Core i5-12500H has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-12500H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
