Core i5-12500H vs Ryzen 9 PRO 6950H benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 9 PRO 6950H is faster than the Core i5-12500H. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-12500H in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-12500H has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Ryzen 9 PRO 6950H has 8 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen 9 PRO 6950H has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-12500H. Also, the Ryzen 9 PRO 6950H has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i5-12500H has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 9 PRO 6950H. The Core i5-12500H also has slightly more L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Core i5-12500H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
