Core i5-12500H vs Ryzen 7 7730U benchmarks

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-12500H is faster than the Ryzen 7 7730U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 7 7730U in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-12500H has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Ryzen 7 7730U has 8 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i5-12500H has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 7 7730U. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. The Ryzen 7 7730U outputs less heat than Core i5-12500H thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i5-12500H has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 7 7730U. The Core i5-12500H also has slightly more L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-12500H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
