Core i5-12500H vs Ryzen 5 6600H specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-12500H beats the Ryzen 5 6600H in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen 5 6600H in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-12500H has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Ryzen 5 6600H has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 6600H. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 5 6600H has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-12500H. In addition, both chips have the same turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-12500H has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 5 6600H. The Core i5-12500H also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-12500H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
