Core i5-12500H vs Core i5-13450HX benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-13450HX beats the Core i5-12500H in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-12500H in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-12500H has slightly more cores than the Core i5-13450HX. Indeed, the Core i5-12500H has 12 cores compared to 10 cores found in the Core i5-13450HX. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i5-12500H has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-13450HX. Despite this, the Core i5-13450HX has a slightly higher turbo speed. In terms of cache, the Core i5-13450HX has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-12500H. The Core i5-13450HX also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-12500H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
