Core i5-12450H vs Core i5-1235U benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-12450H performs better than the Core i5-1235U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-1235U in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-1235U has slightly more cores than the Core i5-12450H. Indeed, the Core i5-1235U has 10 cores compared to 8 cores found in the Core i5-12450H. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-12450H has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-1235U. In addition, both chips have the same turbo speed. The Core i5-1235U outputs less heat than Core i5-12450H thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-1235U has slightly more L2 cache than the Core i5-12450H. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-12450H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
