Core i5-12450H vs Core 5 120U specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-12450H beats the Core 5 120U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core 5 120U in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core 5 120U has slightly more cores than the Core i5-12450H. Indeed, the Core 5 120U has 10 cores compared to 8 cores found in the Core i5-12450H. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-12450H has a much higher clock speed than the Core 5 120U. The info from our database shows that the Core 5 120U has more L2 cache than the Core i5-12450H. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Core i5-12450H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
