Core i5-1240P vs Core i5-1245U benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-1245U is faster than the Core i5-1240P. Despite this, the Core i5-1240P has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-1240P has slightly more cores with 12 cores compared to the Core i5-1245U that has 10 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-1245U. Our comparison shows that the Core i5-1240P has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-1245U. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. The Core i5-1245U outputs less heat than Core i5-1240P thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i5-1245U has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-1240P. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Core i5-1240P has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
