Core i5-1240P vs Core i3-1215U benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-1240P performs better than the Core i3-1215U. Despite this, the Core i3-1215U has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-1240P has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Core i3-1215U has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i3-1215U. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-1240P has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i3-1215U. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. The Core i3-1215U outputs less heat than Core i5-1240P thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-1240P has slightly more L2 cache than the Core i3-1215U. The Core i5-1240P also has slightly more L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Core i5-1240P has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
