Core i5-1235U vs Ryzen 5 7530U benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 7530U beats the Core i5-1235U in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-1235U in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i5-1235U has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Ryzen 5 7530U that has 6 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 7530U has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-1235U. Also, the Ryzen 5 7530U has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Ryzen 5 7530U has more L2 cache than the Core i5-1235U. The Ryzen 5 7530U also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-1235U has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
