Core i5-11600 vs Xeon E5-2687W v4 comparison
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon E5-2687W v4 performs better than the Core i5-11600. Despite this, the Core i5-11600 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E5-2687W v4 has significantly more cores with 12 cores compared to the Core i5-11600 that has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-11600. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E5-2687W v4 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i5-11600. Despite this, the Core i5-11600 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-11600 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2687W v4 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The data shows that both these CPUs have same sized L2 caches. The Xeon E5-2687W v4 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-11600 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
