Core i5-11400H vs Core i5-12500H specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-12500H performs better than the Core i5-11400H. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-11400H in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Core i5-12500H has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Core i5-11400H has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-11400H. Our comparison shows that the Core i5-11400H has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i5-12500H. Furthermore, both these CPUs have identical turbo speeds. A Core i5-11400H CPU outputs less heat than a Core i5-12500H CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i5-11400H has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-12500H. Despite this, the Core i5-12500H has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Core i5-11400H.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Core i5-11400H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
