Core i5-11400 vs Ryzen 7 5700X benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 7 5700X is faster than the Core i5-11400. Despite this, the Core i5-11400 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen 7 5700X has slightly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Core i5-11400 has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-11400. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i5-11400 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 7 5700X. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 5700X has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 7 5700X has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-11400. The Ryzen 7 5700X also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-11400 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
