Core i5-10600K vs Core i7-1255U benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-10600K performs better than the Core i7-1255U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i7-1255U in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-1255U has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Core i5-10600K that has 6 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i5-10600K has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-1255U. Also, the Core i5-10600K has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-1255U outputs less heat than Core i5-10600K thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Core i7-1255U has more L2 cache than the Core i5-10600K. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-10600K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
