Core i5-10500 vs Core i7-9850H benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-9850H is faster than the Core i5-10500. Despite this, the Core i5-10500 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-10500 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-9850H. Despite this, the Core i7-9850H has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-9850H outputs less heat than Core i5-10500 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. When comparing cache sizes, these CPUs have an identical amount of L2 cache and L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-10500 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
