Core i5-10400F vs Core i5-1245U specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-1245U performs better than the Core i5-10400F. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-10400F in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-1245U has significantly more cores than the Core i5-10400F. Indeed, the Core i5-1245U has 10 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Core i5-10400F. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-10400F has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-1245U. In terms of cache, the Core i5-1245U has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-10400F. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Core i5-10400F has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
