Core i5-10400F vs Core i3-1215U benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i5-10400F is faster than the Core i3-1215U. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i3-1215U in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Core i5-10400F has more threads. Our comparison shows that the Core i5-10400F has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i3-1215U. Despite this, the Core i3-1215U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i3-1215U outputs less heat than Core i5-10400F thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i3-1215U has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-10400F. Despite this, the Core i5-10400F has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i3-1215U.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-10400F has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
