Core i5-10400 vs Xeon E5-2640 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i5-10400 beats the Xeon E5-2640 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-2640 in all gaming tests too.
Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-10400 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2640. Also, the Core i5-10400 has a significantly higher turbo speed. A Core i5-10400 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2640 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache. The Xeon E5-2640 also has slightly more L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Core i5-10400 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
