Core i5-10400 vs Core i5-1245U benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i5-1245U performs better than the Core i5-10400. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-10400 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i5-1245U has significantly more cores than the Core i5-10400. Indeed, the Core i5-1245U has 10 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Core i5-10400. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Core i5-10400 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i5-1245U. In terms of cache, the Core i5-1245U has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Core i5-10400. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-10400 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
