Core i5-10300H vs Core i7-12650H benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i7-12650H beats the Core i5-10300H in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Core i5-10300H in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i7-12650H has significantly more cores with 10 cores whereas the Core i5-10300H has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i5-10300H. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Core i5-10300H has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-12650H. Despite this, the Core i7-12650H has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i7-12650H has significantly more L2 cache than the Core i5-10300H. The Core i7-12650H also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Core i5-10300H has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
